1869, George Cruikshank's Table - Book. Edited by Gilbert Abbott A' Beckett. Illustrated with 12 steel plates and 116 engravings on wood. New Edition. London, Bell and Daly, York Street, Covent Garden. It looks like the first owner acquired this book in 1872, as written on the inside cover page, and another owner acquired it in London in Feb. '49 (1949). I found it at an estate sale from a collector of very early English history and other English subjects. It is string bonded but has a few loose pages; a group of 4 pages is not secured. Gold on the edges of the pages. The inside brown paper glued to the inside cover is tight, making the first and last pages delicate to open only. Obvious wear on the cover, with the corners more worn than the rest. 10 1/4" X 7 1/4". 277 pages of text. I can send more pictures per request. Great book!!! Rare find. Cruikshank was well known for his political caricatures. Also included is a framed collection of original die-cut caricatures created by Cruikshank. Bright colors of everyday English people. Twelve Different Types of People. The frame is 10 3/4" X 8 3/4". Each caricature is just over 2" tall.  Free shipping within the U.S.
