Vintage Ice Capades green felt pennant banner. 28" long X 11". It is slightly faded. There is a short cut near the tip. There are three tack holes. The original owner has written on the front of this pennant. It is dated Feb. 9, 1946. It also is marked with the owner's address in Hillcrest Village, Washington, DC. This event would have been in the Uline Arena, later renamed the Washington Coliseum. It is also the site of the first Beatles concert in the U.S. It is now home to an REI flagship store. The Ice Capades started in 1940. It was a very popular event through the 1960s, often starring Olympic skaters. It slowly lost its popularity and ended in 1980.
