A vintage Japanese hand-carved diorama.  Hand-carved celluloid, which is an early plastic.   Inside a clam shell-shaped housing, this dioramais a scene of a Japanese house with a water wheel that does turn.  There are two children with a duck in the front, a small bridge, and several painted trees.  A three-level pagoda is carved in the clam's top shell.  This diorama is different than the many that are offered online.  The artist has cut out a space in the back of the top and bottom shell of the clam.  This allows more detail to be seen, especially when put under a light.  Very nice.
