Two different issues. Each is sold separately. The Gregg Writer. A Magazine for Secretaries, Stenographers, and Typists. Before PCs and laptops, almost everyone took a typing class in high school, and many became secretaries. During WWII, many women and men who went into the service for clerical training used the Gregg Writer to sharpen their skills. Both magazines are in good to very good condition. All are from the WWII era. These magazines were popular in civilian secretary schools and military schools—a great little magazine to read.
June 1943. The Gregg Writer. A monthly magazine for secretaries, stenographers, and typists. The cover photograph is a Yeoman in the US Navy who was an instructor at Pacific Fleet Stenography School. This magazine is filled with ads in support of our military during the war. It also has some great little shorthand drawings. Drawings made with actual shorthand letters. There were speed shorthand contests. The center fold shows some of the winners. 9 1/4" X 6".
Sept 1944. The Gregg Writer. A monthly magazine for secretaries, stenographers, and typists. Women played a crucial role in WWII in the admin departments of all services. Many men in the service also filled this training. This magazine is filled with ads in support of our military during the war. It also has some great little shorthand drawings. Drawings made with actual shorthand letters. 8 3/4" X 5 3/4".
