It took me a while to figure this one out. Tupi is a name for a group of indigenous people in Brazil. It is also a town. Lentopallo is Finnish for Volleyball. Apparently, in 1954, as marked on the back, there was an international volleyball tournament in Brazil. The CBC (Brazilian Volleyball Confederation) was formed in 1954. The World Championships were held in Brazil in the early 1960s, so this could have been an early international tournament and the first tournament for Brazil's newly founded league. However, the original ribbon is the same color as the Finnish flag. Tupi is a popular name in Finland. Bronze medal. (3rd place). So if anyone knows the facts behind this medal, please share.
